Reflection
Today is the first session on Information Technology in Early Childhood Education. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. I was apprehensive about the individual assignment, thinking that I need to create a program to design a game for the preschoolers. It was an interesting session with Shai and learning from each other. The article on Enculturation of Young Children and Technology had evoked a lot of discussion and thoughts. Personally, I was astound with the amount of technology that our children are expose to even from birth. It sets me thinking about the tremendous impact it will have on our children, and am worried about their social interaction skills being taken a back seat and affecting their social development. I already noticed a trend that our young people are communicating less via face to face and more thru social media. Advocating for a balance amount of time on the usage of technology will rest on the shoulders of the educators.
